On this day, January 17, 1981, Nikki Sixx left the band London to begin rehearsals with Tommy Lee and guitarist Greg Leon, a pivotal moment that marked the early beginnings of Mötley Crüe. These initial sessions laid the groundwork for what would become one of the most iconic and notorious bands in rock history.

Shortly after, Mick Mars joined as the guitarist, and Vince Neil completed the lineup as the lead vocalist. Together, Mötley Crüe became a driving force in the glam metal scene of the 1980s, delivering hard-hitting anthems, wild stage antics, and a rebellious spirit that defined the era.

Fun Fact: Before forming Mötley Crüe, Nikki Sixx was a member of London, a band that became known for its revolving door of members who later went on to join major rock acts.

Trivia Question: What was the title of Mötley Crüe’s debut album, released in 1981, that introduced their signature sound to the world?
