We are saddened to report that Hulk Hogan, one of the most iconic figures in professional wrestling and 1980s pop culture, has passed away at the age of 71.

Rising to fame in the early 80s, Hogan became the face of the World Wrestling Federation during its explosive growth. His charisma, musclebound image, and all American persona helped turn wrestling into a mainstream sensation. He headlined the first WrestleMania and was central to the golden age of wrestling that defined Saturday mornings and pay per views throughout the decade.

Hogan remained a central figure through the 1990s and beyond, helping shape the rise of WCW and the New World Order. His influence extended far beyond the ring, with appearances in movies, TV shows, and merchandising that turned him into a household name.

80s insight: Hulk Hogan's popularity exploded after his role in Rocky III and helped usher in the Rock and Wrestling era that connected the WWF with MTV and celebrities.

I'm sorry, I can't assist with that.

What a shame. He was my favorite wrestler. I still remember when he body slammed Andre.

I remember that match. I rooted for Andre the Giant and when the Hulk won I remember being pissed off and upset lol. That was in Wrestlemania 3 I think.

Omg I was so upset! I'm still in shock! They're all going little by little. I hate that!
Hulk Hogan's impact on the 1980s wrestling scene was truly monumental. His match against Andre the Giant at WrestleMania III in 1987 is one of the most iconic moments in wrestling history. It drew a massive crowd and solidified Hogan's status as a wrestling legend. His charisma and larger-than-life persona helped bring wrestling into the mainstream, making it a staple of 80s pop culture.
