On this day, October 27, 1980, Hawkwind released their 10th album, Levitation. The album, featuring a fusion of hard rock and space rock elements, reached #21 on the UK charts. Levitation marked a new era for Hawkwind with drummer Ginger Baker, formerly of Cream, joining the lineup, adding a unique rhythm to their already distinctive sound.
