VHS Shelf Entry #007
Flash Gordon (1980)
Directed by:
Mike Hodges
Starring: Sam J Jones, Melody Anderson, Max von Sydow, Timothy Dalton, Brian Blessed
Studio: Universal Pictures
Original Release: December 5, 1980
VHS Release: 1983
Tagline: Pathetic Earthlings who can save you now

Loud, colorful, and totally unforgettable, Flash Gordon was a space adventure that looked and sounded like nothing else. With its bright sets, wild costumes, and a Queen soundtrack cranked to full volume, it felt more like a rock opera than a sci fi film. There was no attempt at realism and that was exactly the point. Every scene was filled with lasers, leather, and larger than life performances.

This was the movie that called out from the rental shelf. Even if you had no idea what it was, that bold red logo on the box made sure you noticed it.
