On this day, February 1, 1986, German heavy metal band Grave Digger released their third studio album, War Games. Building on their reputation in the metal scene, this album showcased the band’s aggressive sound and lyrical themes centered around conflict and humanity's darker struggles.

Tracks like Keep On Rockin', Heaven (Warrant) Can Wait, and Fire in Your Eyes displayed Grave Digger's evolution toward a heavier and more polished sound, while still holding onto the raw energy that defined their early work. War Games further solidified the band’s place in the growing German heavy metal movement of the 80s.

Fun Fact: War Games was the last album to feature the original lineup before the band briefly disbanded and returned with a reformed style and lineup in the 90s.
