On this day, October 20, 1980, Donna Summer released her eighth studio album The Wanderer. The album marked a stylistic shift for Summer, as she embraced more rock and new wave influences while still keeping her disco roots. The Wanderer peaked at #13 on the Billboard charts and included standout tracks like the title song “The Wanderer” and “Cold Love.” Despite moving away from her traditional disco sound, Summer’s voice and musical versatility continued to shine through.
