On this day May 17, 2012, we bid farewell to the iconic vocalist Donna Summer, who succumbed to lung cancer at 63. Summer, a nonsmoker, speculated that exposure to toxic substances from the September 11 attacks might have contributed to her illness, as she was near Ground Zero during the tragedy. Her timeless hit "Works Hard for the Money" still captivates audiences globally.
