On this day, November 20, 1981, the slasher film Don’t Go in the Woods (also known as Don’t Go in the Woods… Alone!) premiered in the Salt Lake City area. Directed by James Bryan, the film follows four campers terrorized by a murderous woodsman on a remote, wooded mountainside.
Although it gained notoriety for its gruesome kills and low-budget charm, the film became infamous as one of the “video nasties” banned in the United Kingdom during the 1980s for its graphic violence. Over time, it has developed a cult following among fans of campy, over-the-top horror.
