On this day, September 30, 1983, Brainstorm, directed by Douglas Trumbull, premiered in theaters. The film starred Christopher Walken, Natalie Wood, Louise Fletcher, and Cliff Robertson. With a box office gross of $18 million, Brainstorm is most remembered as the last film Natalie Wood completed before her tragic drowning at Catalina Island in 1981, which occurred during production, adding a poignant note to its release.
