On this day, September 24, 1988, Bobby McFerrin’s upbeat and catchy “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” reached the #1 spot on the US Billboard charts! The song stayed at the top from September 24 to October 7 and also hit #1 in Canada, Austria, Australia, and Iceland. The feel-good anthem even went on to win Song of the Year at the 1989 Grammy Awards.
