On this day, October 21, 1988, Bat*21, directed by Peter Markle, premiered in theaters. Starring Gene Hackman and Danny Glover, the film is based on a true story about a downed U.S. Air Force navigator during the Vietnam War and the heroic efforts to rescue him. Despite its gripping premise and strong performances from Hackman and Glover, the film underperformed at the box office, grossing only $3.1 million.

Do you remember watching Bat21* when it was first released, or did you come across this war film later on?
