On this day, October 30, 1982, “Who Can It Be Now?” by Men at Work became the #1 song in America, holding the top spot from October 30 to November 5. The catchy single also hit #1 in Israel, marking the band’s breakthrough in the music scene. It was the first single off their debut album Business as Usual and quickly became a defining track of the ’80s.

Fun Fact! It only took Colin Hay 30 minutes to write the song while he was sitting in a tree house with his girlfriend in New South Wales. Talk about inspiration striking in the right place!

Who remembers jamming to “Who Can It Be Now?” when it first came out? Did you love Men at Work’s debut sound?
