On This Day: May 6, 1985 - Duran Duran Releases A View to a Kill
On this day May 6, 1985, Duran Duran released A View to a Kill, the theme song for the James Bond film of the same name. Blending the band’s signature synth pop style with the grandeur of Bond themes, the track became an instant hit and marked a major moment for both the band and the franchise.

A View to a Kill became the number one song in America from July 13 through July 26, 1985, making it the only James Bond theme to reach the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100. It also hit number one in Canada, Spain, Belgium, Sweden, and Denmark.

Fun fact: Duran Duran were huge Bond fans and actually approached producer Albert Broccoli at a party to pitch the idea of recording the theme song themselves.
