On This Day: May 3, 1986 - Bonnie Tyler Releases Secret Dreams and Forbidden Fire
On May 3, 1986, Bonnie Tyler released her sixth studio album Secret Dreams and Forbidden Fire. Some sources list the release date as April 7, but it is most commonly associated with early May. The album continued her partnership with producer Jim Steinman and delivered a bold mix of rock anthems and dramatic ballads.

It reached number 106 on the US Billboard charts and hit number one in Norway, showing Bonnie’s strong international appeal. The album featured Holding Out for a Hero which had already gained popularity from the Footloose soundtrack but found new life here.

Fun fact: Several musicians from Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band played on the album and many of the tracks ran over five minutes long in true Jim Steinman fashion.
