On This Day: March 7 1989 Girl You Know Its True by Milli Vanilli Was Released
On this day March 7 1989 Milli Vanilli released their second album Girl You Know Its True marking their first official US release. The album became a massive commercial success reaching number one on the Billboard 200 and topping the charts in Canada. It featured hit singles like Blame It on the Rain Baby Dont Forget My Number and the title track Girl You Know Its True making the duo one of the biggest pop acts of the late 80s.

Despite its initial success the album became infamous after it was revealed that Rob Pilatus and Fab Morvan did not actually sing on the recordings. This led to one of the biggest scandals in music history and the duo being stripped of their Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1990.

Fun fact: Even after the lip syncing scandal the album sold over six million copies in the US alone making it one of the best-selling pop albums of the era.
