n this day March 4 1983 the Canadian slasher film Curtains premiered in theaters all over the US. Directed by Richard Ciupka the movie starred John Vernon and Linda Thorson in a chilling tale of murder suspense and psychological horror set in the world of acting and filmmaking.

The film followed a group of actresses invited to a secluded mansion to audition for a coveted movie role only to find themselves being stalked and murdered one by one. Curtains stood out from typical slasher films of the era by incorporating elements of psychological horror and mystery creating a unique blend of tension and scares.

Despite behind the scenes production issues that caused delays and reshoots the film eventually made its way to theaters and earned three point seven million at the box office. Over time it became a cult classic among horror fans particularly for its eerie masked killer and the infamous ice skating murder scene.

Fun fact: The creepy hag mask worn by the killer in Curtains has become one of the most recognizable horror masks in slasher film history.
