On This Day: March 10 1988 Singer Andy Gibb Passed Away at Age 30
On this day March 10 1988 singer Andy Gibb passed away at the age of 30 due to myocarditis an inflammation of the heart muscle caused by years of cocaine abuse. As the younger brother of the Bee Gees Andy had a successful solo career in the late 70s with hits like I Just Want to Be Your Everything and Shadow Dancing.

Despite his talent and early success Andy struggled with substance abuse which affected both his personal and professional life. Just days before his death he had been discussing a comeback but his years of drug use had already taken a toll on his health. His passing was a heartbreaking loss for his family friends and fans.

Fun fact: Andy Gibb was the first solo artist in history to have his first three singles reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

Trivia question: What was the title of Andy Gibbs debut album released in 1977?
