On This Day: June 4, 1983 – Motörhead Releases Another Perfect Day
On this day June 4, 1983, Motörhead released their sixth studio album Another Perfect Day. Marking a unique chapter in the band’s history, it was the only Motörhead album to feature former Thin Lizzy guitarist Brian Robertson, whose melodic style brought a noticeable shift in the band’s sound.

While the album reached number 153 on the Billboard charts in the United States, it performed significantly better in the United Kingdom, where it peaked at number 20. Songs like Dancing on Your Grave and Shine showcased a more polished, experimental edge while still holding onto the band’s signature intensity.

Although met with mixed reactions at the time, Another Perfect Day has since been reassessed by many fans as an underrated entry in the Motörhead catalog, offering a glimpse at a band unafraid to take risks.

80s insight: Another Perfect Day stood out in a decade where metal was branching into countless directions. Motörhead’s willingness to experiment, even briefly, reflected the broader creative freedom that defined much of early 80s heavy music.
