On this day April 19 1986, the final episode of "Benson" aired, concluding its successful seven-season run with a total of 158 episodes on ABC. Notably, in 1985, Robert Guillaume received an Emmy Award for Most Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series for his portrayal of Benson. Interestingly, before pursuing acting, Guillaume served in the US Army. Additionally, "Benson" originated as a spinoff from the series "Soap."
