What was the first 80s video game that completely transported you to another world? Could be an arcade classic or a home console favorite. It was The Legend of Zelda for me.

The original Legend of Zelda hands down. The moment you started and it dropped you into that open world with no direction it felt different. The music the secrets the sense of freedom. I kept a little map I drew by hand just to track where I had been. That game was like living in a fantasy book.

I think Zelda was a game changer back then. It wasn’t your typical video game. You had the ability to explore which was huge for us.

Alright for me it was probably Dragon’s Lair. I was about 14 or 15 when it hit the arcades and it blew my mind. It felt like I was dropped right into a Saturday morning cartoon. The controls were frustrating but I kept playing because the animation was just that cool.

The controls were a real pain in the behind. I was never able to get past the first 2 minutes of it. I had no idea what I was doing but it definitely looked cool.
