My favorite has to be the Miami Vice theme song. Jan Hammer created something unforgettable with that iconic synth-driven sound. The moment it starts it sets the tone for the entire episode and instantly takes you back to the 80s.

Which 1980s TV theme song is your favorite and why?

That is easy. Dynasty. The glam, the drama, the full orchestral slay. It didn’t just start the show it made an entrance like a queen walking into a ballroom hehe. If we are talking pure energy I have to say Jem and the Holograms. That theme song was glittery empowerment. Truly Outrageous was basically my personal mantra in 1987. I'll also give a nod to Moonlighting for giving romance a whole vibe with that smooth saxophone intro.

Okay you nailed it with Jem. That show was like pure neon magic. I used to sing the theme song in the mirror with a hairbrush microphone and a scarf tied around my head like it was a stage outfit.

But my heart still belongs to Mr. Belvedere. That theme song just made me happy. The way it starts off slow and then kicks in? It always put me in a good mood. I used to sing it out loud like it was some grand entrance for the whole family.

For me it has to be Hill Street Blues. That piano intro always gave me goosebumps. It was soft and emotional but still had a weight to it that fit the show perfectly. It felt like grown up television and even as a teenager I knew it was something special.

That’s so funny you watched Jem. I only caught it here and there but I remember thinking it was so over the top in the best way. The music and the outfits were wild. I didn’t watch it all the time but it always made me laugh when the Misfits showed up acting like total drama queens. I love that you watched it though. You probably know more about it than I do.

Yes I sure did. I think it was on every Sunday morning.
