On this day, December 16, 1983, the satirical comedy To Be or Not to Be premiered in theaters across the United States. Directed by Alan Johnson, the film stars Mel Brooks and Anne Bancroft as a married acting duo in Nazi-occupied Poland who become involved in a daring resistance effort.
