On this day, January 26, 1985, Otherworld, a sci-fi adventure series, premiered on CBS. The show followed the Sterling family, who are accidentally transported to a parallel dimension after visiting the Great Pyramid of Giza. They find themselves in a strange world ruled by the oppressive Zone Troopers, and each episode follows their quest to return home.

Despite its intriguing premise and imaginative storytelling, Otherworld lasted only one season with just 8 episodes. Over the years, it gained a cult following for its unique blend of science fiction, adventure, and social commentary.

Fun Fact: The creator of Otherworld, Roderick Taylor, drew inspiration from the 1960s series The Prisoner, incorporating themes of rebellion and survival against an authoritarian regime.

Trivia Question: What 1980s sci-fi TV show featured a group of visitors from another planet who disguise themselves as humans to gain control of Earth?
