On this day, January 26, 1980, the 37th Golden Globe Awards aired, celebrating the best in film and television from 1979. The night’s biggest winner was the critically acclaimed drama Kramer vs. Kramer, which took home the award for Best Motion Picture – Drama.

Dustin Hoffman won Best Actor for his powerful performance as a father fighting for custody of his son in Kramer vs. Kramer, while Sally Field earned Best Actress for her role as a union organizer in Norma Rae, delivering one of the most iconic performances of her career.

Fun Fact: Norma Rae was inspired by the real-life story of Crystal Lee Sutton, a textile worker and activist who fought for labor union rights in North Carolina.

Trivia Question: What other prestigious award did Sally Field win for her performance in Norma Rae, where she delivered the famous line, “You like me, right now, you like me”?
