On this day, December 19, 1980, Inside Moves premiered in theaters. Directed by Richard Donner (best known for Superman and The Goonies), the film stars John Savage, David Morse, and Diana Scarwid in a moving story of hope, friendship, and resilience.

The plot follows Roary (John Savage), who is left disabled after a failed suicide attempt. He finds solace in a local bar, forging unexpected friendships with others who’ve faced hardships, including Jerry (David Morse), a bartender with dreams of playing professional basketball. Diana Scarwid’s touching performance earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

While Inside Moves didn’t make a major splash at the box office, it remains a hidden gem with heartfelt performances and a powerful message.
