The Dukes (Animated Series) Premiered on CBS in 1983
On this day, February 5, 1983, The Dukes, an animated spin-off of The Dukes of Hazzard, premiered on CBS. Running for two seasons with a total of 20 episodes, the series followed Bo, Luke, and Daisy Duke as they raced around the world in the General Lee, competing against Boss Hogg in a high-stakes global race.

Initially, the show featured Coy and Vance Duke due to the temporary departure of Bo and Luke’s original actors from the live-action series. However, when John Schneider and Tom Wopat returned to The Dukes of Hazzard, their characters replaced Coy and Vance midway through the first season. The animated series also included familiar voices from the original cast, including Catherine Bach (Daisy) and James Best (Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane).

Fun fact: The first season of The Dukes aired while Bo and Luke were absent from the live-action Dukes of Hazzard series due to a contract dispute. This made the animated series the only place fans could still see the classic duo—until they returned to the main show.

Trivia question: What was the name of the fictional county where The Dukes of Hazzard (both the live-action and animated versions) took place?
