On This Day September 6 1982 – Frida Released Her Third Solo Album Somethings Going On
On this day September 6 1982, Frida, best known as a member of ABBA, released her third solo album Somethings Going On. The record marked a major step in her career as she worked outside of ABBA with a new sound and new collaborators.

The album was produced by Phil Collins of Genesis, who also played drums and added his signature production style. Its lead single, I Know Theres Something Going On, became a worldwide hit and charted strongly in multiple countries, driven by its distinctive drum sound and Frida’s powerful vocals.

Somethings Going On received positive attention for showing a different side of Frida’s artistry, blending pop and rock elements with a more modern and moody production. It proved she could succeed as a solo performer while still carrying the legacy of her ABBA years.

80s insight: Somethings Going On reflected how the 1980s gave established artists the chance to reinvent themselves with bold new sounds and production styles.
