On This Day: May 31, 1986 - Wham! Releases The Final Compilation Album
On this day May 31, 1986, Wham! released their greatest hits compilation album The Final. Some sources, however, list July 7 as the official release date, aligning it with their massive farewell concert at Wembley Stadium. The album served as a closing chapter for the duo, capturing their biggest hits before George Michael launched his solo career.

The Final included chart topping songs like Wake Me Up Before You Go Go, Careless Whisper, Freedom, and Everything She Wants. It reached number 2 on the UK Albums Chart and was a commercial and emotional sendoff for one of the defining pop acts of the decade.

Fun fact: The Final was not released in the United States. Instead, American fans received a different compilation titled Music from the Edge of Heaven.
