On This Day: May 3, 1988 - Living Colour Releases Vivid
On May 3, 1988, Living Colour released their debut album Vivid, a powerful blend of rock, funk, metal, and soul that immediately set them apart from anything else on the charts. Led by guitarist Vernon Reid and vocalist Corey Glover, the band delivered a bold sound with sharp political and social commentary.

Vivid reached number six on the US Billboard charts and included the hit single Cult of Personality which became an anthem and earned them a Grammy Award. The album was a groundbreaking moment in rock music and helped break down barriers in the genre.

Fun fact: Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones played a key role in getting Living Colour signed and also produced two tracks on the album.
