On This Day: May 27, 1983 - Mike Oldfield Released Crises
On this day May 27, 1983, Mike Oldfield released his eighth studio album Crises, a dynamic and atmospheric collection that blended progressive rock with pop and electronic elements. Best known for his groundbreaking work on Tubular Bells, Oldfield continued to evolve his sound with this release, delivering complex compositions and radio-friendly singles.

Crises featured the hit song Moonlight Shadow, sung by Maggie Reilly, which became one of Oldfield’s biggest commercial successes. The album reached number 6 on the UK charts and topped the charts in Germany, Norway, and Sweden, proving especially popular across Europe.

Fun fact: Moonlight Shadow was inspired in part by the tragic death of John Lennon, and it became a number 1 single in multiple countries.
