On This Day: May 12, 1989 - Dress Remix Album by TM Network Released
On this day May 12, 1989, Japanese pop rock trio TM Network released Dress, a remix album that offered new interpretations of some of their biggest hits from the 1980s. Known for their signature fusion of synthpop, rock and electronic music, TM Network had already become one of Japan’s most influential music acts by the time Dress hit shelves.

The album featured remixed versions of fan favorites such as Get Wild, Come on Everybody and Beyond the Time. Dress was notable for its use of advanced studio production and electronic sequencing, which gave the tracks a fresh, futuristic sound while still retaining their emotional depth and melodic hooks. TM Network’s ability to bridge rock and technology helped influence the direction of J-pop into the 1990s.

Dress was well received by fans and further solidified the group’s image as innovators in the Japanese music scene. The album also played a role in expanding TM Network’s presence beyond Japan, especially among fans of anime and electronic music.

Fun fact: The remixed version of Get Wild from Dress became one of TM Network’s most enduring tracks and was famously used as the ending theme to the anime City Hunter.
