On This Day: May 12, 1982 - Final Episode of The Incredible Hulk Aired
On this day May 12, 1982, CBS aired the final episode of The Incredible Hulk, marking the end of one of television’s most memorable superhero dramas. The series starred Bill Bixby as Dr David Banner, Lou Ferrigno as the Hulk, and Jack Colvin as reporter Jack McGee. Over five seasons and 80 episodes, the show delivered a mix of science fiction, emotion, and action that left a lasting impact on 1980s television.

The Incredible Hulk debuted in 1978 and quickly set itself apart by portraying David Banner as a tormented man on a lonely quest to control the monster within. Lou Ferrigno's physical transformation into the Hulk became legendary, while Bill Bixby's heartfelt and thoughtful performance gave the show real emotional weight. Each episode followed Banner as he traveled from town to town, helping people while trying to stay ahead of McGee and keep his secret hidden.

Though the series ended in 1982, it lived on through made-for-TV reunion movies that aired later in the decade. The Incredible Hulk remains one of the most iconic superhero shows of its time.

Fun fact: Lou Ferrigno was a professional bodybuilder and former Mr Universe. Despite being mostly deaf since early childhood, he became an international star through his role as the Hulk.
