On This Day: May 11, 1989 - Final Episode of Dynasty Airs
On May 11, 1989, the final episode of Dynasty aired, bringing to a close one of the most glamorous and drama filled runs in television history. The show wrapped after nine seasons and 220 episodes, leaving behind a legacy of power struggles, fashion statements, and unforgettable cliffhangers.

At its peak, Dynasty was the number 1 show in America in 1985, thanks to the fierce rivalry between Krystle and Alexis, the Carrington family’s outrageous wealth, and the show's over the top storytelling. It helped define the primetime soap genre of the 80s.

Fun fact: The final episode ended with multiple characters in life threatening situations, but since the show was unexpectedly canceled, fans never got official resolutions.
