On this day March 7 1983 The Nashville Network officially launched bringing country music programming and Southern culture to television. Known as TNN the network featured a mix of country music performances talk shows motor racing and outdoor lifestyle programs quickly becoming a go to channel for country fans.

TNN was a major platform for country music in the 80s and 90s airing popular shows like Nashville Now Crook and Chase and Grand Ole Opry Live. Over time the network underwent several rebrands eventually becoming Spike TV and later the Paramount Network shifting away from its country roots.
