On This Day: March 7 1983 Small & Frye Premiered on CBS
On this day March 7 1983 the short-lived comedy series Small & Frye premiered on CBS. The show followed the adventures of a detective duo with a unique twist—one of them could shrink down to six inches tall. Starring Darren McGavin as Nick Small and Jack Blessing as Chip Frye the series combined crime-solving with lighthearted humor and a bit of sci-fi fantasy.

Despite its creative premise Small & Frye struggled to find an audience and was canceled after just six episodes. While it never gained widespread recognition the show remains a quirky footnote in 80s television history.

Fun fact: Jack Blessing who played Chip Frye later became known for his recurring roles on Moonlighting and George Lopez.

Trivia question: What was the name of the private detective agency in Small & Frye?
