On This Day: March 6 1987 Mickey Mousecapade Was Released in Japan
On this day March 6 1987 the classic NES game Mickey Mousecapade was released in Japan under the title Mickey Mouse Adventures in Wonderland. The platformer followed Mickey and Minnie Mouse on a quest through various themed levels to rescue Alice from Alice in Wonderland.

Developed by Hudson Soft and published by Capcom in North America the game featured colorful side scrolling action with players guiding Mickey while Minnie followed automatically. Despite its simple gameplay Mickey Mousecapade became a nostalgic favorite among early NES players.

Fun fact: The Japanese version of the game featured more direct ties to Alice in Wonderland while the North American version replaced many of the Wonderland characters with Disney villains like Maleficent and Captain Hook.

Trivia question: What was the first video game to feature Mickey Mouse as a playable character?
