On This Day: March 6 1984 aka Pablo Premiered on ABC
On this day March 6 1984 the sitcom aka Pablo premiered on ABC. Starring comedian Paul Rodriguez the show followed the life of a struggling Mexican American stand-up comedian trying to balance his career with the expectations of his large traditional family.

Despite its attempt to bring Latino representation to prime-time television aka Pablo struggled with ratings and network support. The series lasted just one season with only six episodes airing before it was canceled. Over time it has been recognized as an early effort to introduce Latino culture into mainstream television comedy paving the way for future shows.
