On This Day: March 5 1986 Fast Times Premiered on CBS
On this day March 5 1986 Fast Times premiered on CBS. The TV adaptation of Fast Times at Ridgemont High attempted to bring the beloved characters from the 1982 film to the small screen. The series starred Courtney Thorne-Smith as Stacy Hamilton and Patrick Dempsey as Mike Damone, with Ray Walston reprising his role as Mr. Hand from the movie.

Despite its connection to the hit film and an opening theme performed by Oingo Boingo, Fast Times struggled to capture the same magic. The show only lasted for one season with a total of seven episodes before being canceled.

Fun fact: The show featured a laugh track, which was not present in the film, giving it a more traditional sitcom feel.

Trivia question: What was the name of the high school in both the Fast Times film and TV series?
