On This Day: March 26 1980 The Police Performed Live in Bombay India
On this day March 26 1980 The Police played a historic concert in Bombay India marking the city’s first major rock concert in 10 years. At the height of their early success the trio brought their high energy new wave and reggae infused rock sound to a part of the world rarely visited by Western rock bands at the time.

The concert was part of The Police’s Zenyatta Mondatta world tour and helped pave the way for future international acts to perform in India. For many in the crowd it was a once in a lifetime chance to see a globally rising band live on stage.

Fun fact: The Police’s concert in Bombay was so rare and anticipated that some fans traveled across the country to attend as rock concerts had been almost nonexistent in India for a decade.

Trivia question: What was the name of the album The Police were touring in 1980 when they performed in Bombay?
