On This Day: March 21 1983 Pink Floyd Released Their Album The Final Cut
On this day March 21 1983 Pink Floyd released their 12th studio album The Final Cut. The album reached number six on the Billboard 200 and topped the charts in the UK France Germany Norway Sweden and New Zealand.

Often considered more of a Roger Waters solo effort than a full-band collaboration The Final Cut was a deeply personal and politically charged album reflecting on war loss and disillusionment with leadership. Featuring songs like The Fletcher Memorial Home and Not Now John it was the last Pink Floyd album to feature Waters before he left the band.

Fun fact: The Final Cut was originally conceived as a follow-up to The Wall using leftover material but evolved into a concept album criticizing war and political leaders particularly British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

Trivia question: What was the last Pink Floyd album to feature all four classic members David Gilmour Roger Waters Richard Wright and Nick Mason?
