On This Day: March 20 1989 Heartland Premiered on CBS
On this day March 20 1989 the drama series Heartland premiered on CBS. The show starred Brian Keith as a gruff but caring grandfather who takes in his son’s family after a financial setback forcing multiple generations to live under one roof.

Despite its heartfelt themes and strong performances Heartland struggled with ratings and lasted only one season with 10 episodes before being canceled.

Fun fact: Heartland was created by Joel J Feigenbaum who also worked on popular shows like 7th Heaven and Beverly Hills 90210.
