On this day March 17 1980 Jermaine Jackson released his sixth studio album Let’s Get Serious. The album became his biggest commercial success reaching number six on the Billboard charts and selling over two million copies worldwide.

Let’s Get Serious featured a funk and R&B sound heavily influenced by Stevie Wonder who co-wrote and produced the hit title track Let’s Get Serious. The song became a major hit reaching number one on the R&B charts and helping Jermaine step further out of his brother Michael’s shadow as a solo artist.
