On This Day: March 12 1987 The Final Episode of The Wizard Aired
On this day March 12 1987 the final episode of the adventure series The Wizard aired after one season and 19 episodes. The show followed Simon McKay played by David Rappaport a brilliant inventor and philanthropist who used his genius to help those in need while being pursued by those who wanted to exploit his talents.

Despite its unique premise and Rappaport’s standout performance The Wizard struggled with ratings and was canceled after just one season. Over the years it has gained a cult following among fans of 80s TV who appreciate its mix of action adventure and heart.

Fun fact: David Rappaport was one of the first actors with dwarfism to have a leading role in a primetime network series breaking barriers in television.

Trivia question: What 1981 fantasy film featured David Rappaport as one of the time-traveling dwarves?
