On This Day February 23 1985 - Final Episode of Its Your Move Aired
On this day February 23 1985 the final episode of It's Your Move aired marking the end of the short lived sitcom starring Jason Bateman. Despite its clever writing and Bateman’s standout performance the series lasted only one season with a total of 18 episodes before being canceled.

Its Your Move followed the antics of Matthew Burton a sharp witted and scheming teenager who constantly tried to outsmart his mother’s new neighbor Norman Lamb played by David Garrison. The show was known for its sarcastic humor and unique approach to the typical sitcom formula making it a cult favorite among fans of 80s television.

Though the series was short lived Jason Bateman’s performance as Matthew Burton helped solidify his status as a rising star. He would later achieve greater fame with Silver Spoons and later solidify his legacy with roles in Arrested Development and numerous films.

80s insight: The show’s creators Ron Leavitt and Michael G. Moye later went on to create the hit sitcom Married with Children which became one of the most successful and controversial sitcoms of its time.
