On this day February 23 1983 the 25th Annual Grammy Awards aired on CBS celebrating the best in music from the previous year. Hosted by John Denver the event honored some of the biggest artists and albums in the industry.

One of the most notable wins of the night was Always On My Mind by Willie Nelson which took home Song of the Year. Originally recorded by multiple artists before Nelson’s version in 1982 the song became one of his most beloved hits and solidified his crossover appeal in country and pop music. His heartfelt rendition earned him critical acclaim and helped define his career in the 1980s.

Other major winners included Toto who dominated the night with multiple awards including Album of the Year for Toto IV and Record of the Year for Rosanna. Meanwhile Men at Work won Best New Artist thanks to their breakout success with hits like Down Under and Who Can It Be Now.
