On This Day February 20 1988 - The Final Episode of Women in Prison Aired
On February 20, 1988, the short lived sitcom Women in Prison aired its final episode on Fox, bringing an end to the quirky, offbeat comedy after just one season and 13 episodes.

Set in a fictional women’s correctional facility, the show followed a mix of inmates and staff, balancing humor with the struggles of prison life. Starring Julia Campbell, Blake Clark, and Denny Dillon, Women in Prison was one of the first sitcoms Fox aired during its early years as a network. Despite an original concept and a talented cast, the show failed to find an audience and was quickly canceled.

Though largely forgotten today, Women in Prison remains an interesting part of Fox’s early lineup, coming at a time when the network was still trying to establish itself in the television landscape.

80s insight: Women in Prison was part of Fox’s first full TV season, airing alongside other short-lived sitcoms like Second Chance and Karen’s Song before the network found success with shows like Married... with Children.
