On This Day February 17 1981 - Another Ticket by Eric Clapton Released
On this day, February 17, 1981, Eric Clapton released his seventh solo studio album, Another Ticket. The album continued Clapton’s signature blend of blues and rock, delivering soulful guitar work and heartfelt songwriting. It became a commercial success, reaching #7 on the Billboard charts.

The album featured the hit single I Can't Stand It, which became Clapton’s first #1 hit on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart. Other standout tracks included Blow Wind Blow and Floating Bridge, showcasing his bluesy roots. However, Another Ticket also marked a challenging period for Clapton, as he was hospitalized for ulcers during the supporting tour, forcing him to cancel several dates.

Despite its turbulent release, Another Ticket remains a well regarded entry in Clapton’s discography, blending smooth production with his signature guitar prowess.

80s insight: Another Ticket was Clapton’s last album recorded for RSO Records before switching to Warner Bros.
