On this day, February 12, 1988, Shoot to Kill hit theaters. Directed by Roger Spottiswoode, this intense action thriller starred Sidney Poitier, Tom Berenger, Kirstie Alley, Andrew Robinson, and Clancy Brown. The film marked Poitier’s return to the big screen after more than a decade away from acting, delivering a gripping mix of crime, survival, and suspense.

The story follows FBI agent Warren Stantin, played by Sidney Poitier, who is tracking a ruthless murderer who has infiltrated a group of hikers in the treacherous mountains of the Pacific Northwest. Forced to team up with expert tracker Jonathan Knox, played by Tom Berenger, the two must navigate the deadly wilderness while racing against time to stop the killer. With breathtaking scenery and intense action sequences, Shoot to Kill became a solid hit, earning $29.3 million at the box office on a $15 million budget.
