On This Day: April 9, 1985 - Final Episode of Three’s a Crowd Aired
On this day April 9, 1985, the final episode of Three’s a Crowd aired, marking the quick end of the short lived spin off to the hit sitcom Three’s Company. The show followed Jack Tripper, played by John Ritter, as he moved in with his girlfriend Vicky and tried to navigate life outside the crazy apartment days fans had come to love.

Three’s a Crowd picked up right where Three’s Company left off, but with a new setting and characters including Vicky’s father, who disapproved of their living situation. Even with John Ritter returning, the show couldn’t recapture the same spark and only lasted one season with just 22 episodes.

It was a quiet send off to one of TV’s most iconic characters, but Jack Tripper’s legacy from Three’s Company still lives on as one of the most beloved sitcom roles of the 70s and 80s.

Fun fact: Three’s a Crowd aired its final episode exactly one year after Three’s Company ended in 1984.

Trivia question: What classic sitcom did Three’s a Crowd spin off from, continuing the story of Jack Tripper?
