On This Day: April 30, 1984 - Roger Waters Releases The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking
On April 30, 1984, Roger Waters released his debut solo album The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking. Known as the bassist and one of the primary creative forces behind Pink Floyd, Waters used this album to explore themes of dreams, midlife crises, and emotional isolation.

The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking was a concept album that played out almost like a continuous dream sequence, complete with haunting lyrics and detailed storytelling. It reached number 31 on the Billboard charts and although reactions were mixed at the time, many fans now view it as an important chapter in Waters’ career after leaving Pink Floyd.

Fun fact: Eric Clapton played guitar on The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking, adding his signature sound to several key tracks.
